You have challenged the notion that parents don’t want to be involved because of a lack of interest in their child’s educational success, but instead, once those barriers are removed, you have discovered that parents can contribute significant and tangible support to their child and work with teachers as a team to achieve that goal.
The barriers you have eliminated to consistent parent involvement and the forum you have created have changed how parents and teachers interact, and it will have a profound impact on all aspects of student growth and development.
This final workshop will focus on recognizing the sacrifices parents have made to complete the workshops and an opportunity for all participants to critically assess student academic and behavior objectives identified and agreed on at the start of the workshops. This information is vital because it will create a foundation for future parent and teacher involvement as you develop strategies and tasks to achieve those objectives. This can be a written or verbal agreement that can also engage school staff and administration.
