Teachers can provide parents a “snap shot” of their child’s academic and behavior performance

Workshop #3

In this activity titled “Face the Cookie,” parents and teachers must use their facial muscles to maneuver a cookie from their forehead into their mouths. This is a hilarious activity because the face functions in unusual ways, and the reward is a delicious cookie. Parents and teachers will interact in a novel way, and teachers will be encouraged to share this experience to elicit feedback.

As previously noted, unlike parent-teacher conferences in one-on-one settings, teachers are asked to provide parents with “snapshots” of their children’s academic performances and behavior observations via E-mail, telephone, or direct parent contact outside of workshop groups. Again, this is to maintain student confidentiality.

The goal is to maintain a consistent dialog with parents, focusing on a weekly disclosure of student academic performance and behavior observations.
