Welcome to workshop # 2

Workshop #2 is where you share facts
about yourself, including why you chose
to be a teacher, your teaching experience,
your passion, and how parental involvement can
make you a more effective teacher. Identify and
share things you have in common, your teaching
objectives, student learning outcomes, and how you are evaluated.

Identify the steady progression of knowledge
and skills your students will acquire and how this
will be illustrated in the activity titled “Movin’ On
Up.”

Stages of human development do not travel
in a straight line but as a series of successes and
challenges to reveal student strength, determination, and commitment.
Included in this information should be upcoming
assignments and projects students will be required to complete. This is where the role begins to shift to tasks in which parents can engage with their children. This “snapshot” of information you will share is essential as parents now have current information regarding your teaching objectives and student learning outcomes. You can elicit feedback from parents and explore tangible steps parents can take if concerns warrant parent involvement. Parents are asked to share facts and helpful information about their children.

Activity
Title: Movin’ On Up
Items: cups
Rules: Players must move cups from the top of the
stack to the bottom using alternating hands. This
must be repeated until the blue cup is moved back to the position in which it started (at the base).
Parents compete against each other in this activity
that requires hand and eye coordination as well as speed and accuracy.
